The University Advisory Committee on Benefactions and External and Legal Affairs has approved the naming of a new geological collections building for the Department of Earth Sciences as the Colin Forbes Building.

Dr Colin Forbes (1940), who died in 2014, was an Elizabeth de Clare Fellow at Clare and a member of the academic staff of the Department of Earth Sciences until his retirement in 1983. This naming is in recognition of donations by Dr Forbes, and his contribution to the work of the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences.
