50th Anniversary of Co-Education celebrations begin
Monday, October 24, 2022

On 21 October 2022 Clare College marked the start of the 50th Anniversary of Co-Education celebrations with the unveiling of HOMMAGE, a sculpture by Helaine Blumenfeld OBE, and with a lecture given by Professor Polly O'Hanlon.

Helaine Blumenfeld created HOMMAGE to celebrate the 50th anniversary since the admission of women to Clare College in October 1972. HOMMAGE takes its inspiration from this hard-fought decision and how it transformed the aspirations of young women. The unveiling of the sculpture was attended by the Master, Fellows, staff and students and included a beautiful performance by the Clare College Choir. Please read the full artist's statement and view photos of the sculpture on our dedicated 50th anniversary website.

The lecture by Professor Polly O'Hanlon, the first in a series marking this 50th anniversary, was entitled 'Clare at 50: Hope and experience in a postfeminist age', and was attended by the Master, Fellows, staff, students and members of the public.
