Dr Peter Knewstubb, who joined Clare as an undergraduate in 1950 and became a Fellow in 1964, died yesterday at the age of 91. He was a physical chemist who studied mass spectrometry and supervised many generations of Clare students. Towards the end of his chemistry career he was interested in the applications of microcomputers, then the latest technology, to the study of chemical kinetics.

He was the long-serving editor of the Clare Association Annual as well as being secretary to the Governing Body. He was also an expert on the College silver, organising exhibitions of the College treasures, and an enthusiastic singer.

A full obituary will appear in the 2021-2022 issue of Clare Review.
