Elizabeth Conder appointed Bursar

The College is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Elizabeth Conder as Bursar to succeed David Ball, who is serving as interim Bursar for the current academic year.


 


Ms Conder will join Clare as Bursar-Elect on 12 September and take up the role of Bursar from 1 October. She is currently Director of Finance and Planning at the University of London, where she has worked for the last 8 years. She is a key member of the University’s senior leadership team responsible for financial strategy and risk management and treasury and endowment management.


 


Ms Conder has qualifications as a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser. After graduating from St Andrews with a First Class Degree in Modern History in 1999, Ms Conder spent a year as a Teaching Fellow in Modern History at Harvard, before taking up a role at KPMG. Her subsequent experience includes 8 years at 3i plc as a Tax Adviser and 2 years with Sapient as Senior Manager, Finance and Head of Tax for Europe.


 


Commenting on the appointment, Loretta Minghella, the Master of Clare, said: ‘I am really delighted to welcome Lizzy to the community of Clare, and very much look forward to working with her.’


 


Ms Conder said, ‘I am excited to be joining the vibrant and friendly community of Clare, whose warmth of welcome has been evident and inspiring throughout.  I look forward to working with the Master,  Fellows, staff, students and alumni in the delivery of Clare's commitment to excellence, inclusion and sustainability.’
