Professor David Rowitch elected Fellow of the Royal Society

Professor David Rowitch, Head of the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Clare College, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.

Professor Rowitch is a neonatologist and neuroscientist, whose work with the Rowitch Laboratory explores the contribution of glial cells to central nervous system (CNS) development and disease. He is a member of the Joint Delivery Board of Cambridge Children's Hospital, a new paediatric hospital to be built on the Addenbrookes site.

Sir Adrian Smith, President of the Royal Society, said, "The global pandemic has demonstrated the continuing importance of scientific thinking and collaboration across borders. Each Fellow and Foreign Member bring their area of scientific expertise to the Royal Society and when combined, this expertise supports the use of science for the benefit of humanity."
